MIM Internship Programs

The MIM internship program (Academic Training for J-1 Visa Students) objective is to provide its students with the opportunity to apply the principles and theories that they have learned in the classroom to a professional environment. We view it as a learning experience that integrates academic knowledge with practical application in a real-life setting. We believe that Internships will help our students gain valuable experience, acquire critical skills, and make connections in professional fields in which they are considering future career paths.

What can you learn during your internship?

  • Learning new skills such as communication and teamwork for group work as well as technical skills for individual work (Office, Databases, web software, etc.).
  • Gaining industry knowledge first-hand from an organization and its staff.
  • Meeting new people and developing networking skills.
  • Acquiring valuable experience to add to their resume for future job search
  • Receiving regular, detailed, and measurable feedback on student performance and the internship experience to give the student direction during the internship.

Internship Program Structure

MIM offers three internship programs that are designed to meet the needs of students with different levels of academic coursework and experience. Internships typically follow the completion of the academic component of each MIM academic program i.e. BAP, IBS, or DIBA.

  • Basic Internship Program: This 3-month internship is available to students who have successfully completed the 3-months Business Administration Program BAP and who want to get a first brush at professional experience with a company. Students spend 420 hours at the company over three months (35 hours/week) and participate simultaneously in the Business Capstone Class at MIM for 30 hours.

  • Intermediate Internship Program: This 6-month internship is available to students who successfully completed the 6-months International Business Studies IBS academic program. Upon completion of their internship, students should be able to substantially improve their resumes and further explore their career choices for a middle-level management position. Students spend 840 hours at the company over six months (35 hours/week) and participate simultaneously in the Business Capstone Class at MIM for 60 hours.

  • Advanced Internship Program: This 9-month internship is available to students have successfully completed the 9 months Diploma in International Business Administration DIBA academic program. Upon completion of this long internship, students will have fine-tuned and perfected their professional skills and will be ready for full-time employment in a specific industry or function of their choice. Students spend 1260 hours at the company over nine months (35 hours/week) and follow the Business Capstone Class at MIM for 90 hours.
